|Gerry chose the acorn for inclusion in our nature designs because of its easily recognizable shape, its long history as an early food source and as a symbol for potential. |
To paraphrase,""The mighty oak from a little acorn grows."" Even our most grand conclusions start with a much smaller seed of thought. The acorn represents the potential in all of us and the strength we often need to see us through some part of our lives, both positive and negative. Somewhere inside us lie the kernels of greater aspirations but they need nurturing to bring about growth. Gerry was also drawn to the fact that many of the wonderful Native American basket designs from the west and southwest were used for the collection and preparation of acorns which were an important part of their diet.
