|It is hard to find earrings to go with the bone carvings because bone has a unique way of bouncing light. Pearl earrings sometimes work, and customers have found several options that are close to bone but nothing is quite the same. |
Gerry is always experimenting with new concepts. He also is a woodturner and one of his lathes does very small work. He decided to try some earrings combining bone and wood. He adhered a piece of bone to a piece of Pohutakawa wood from New Zealand and then turned the combination on his small lathe. It creates an interesting affect as they move easily when worn and the wood sections are glimpsed in the back.
The Imagami shown have small etched notches in the lower portions to give it a somewhat Native American feel. And as with previous Imagami earrings, the wood back can be glimpsed as they shift.
We have only one set of these earrings at this time.
